Gloria Preece - Founding Musical Director -1979-2015
Founding member, Gloria lead the group with outstanding success for over 30 years. She dedicated all her working life to teaching music, both to adults and children privately and throughout her teaching career in both Primary and Secondary schools for many years.
In the last decade, Gloria was honoured to work with one of her former secondary school pupils, Robert Carlin, formerly from Eastwood Comprehensive, who went on to become a professional tenor singer, performing with such prestigious companies as Opera North, Glyndebourne and the BBC.
Over the years, Gloria also worked with other choirs too, Musical Director with the Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir for 19 years and as a consultant to several other male voice choirs in the area. She continued to keep abreast of her musical knowledge by attending NAC annual conferences and informative workshops. Her vast experience enabled her choir to perform an extensive variety of musical genre from traditional folk songs to eight part harmonic recital pieces.
Gloria's enthusiasm, motivation, dedication and drive ensured the choir's excellent performance quality at every concert.
This rich legacy will continue to be upheld by the Choir and its leadership team, long into the future.
